Quiz Time

 

The students will be able to enhance their General Knowledge

 

A theme / identified topic will be given to the students for the preparation of the quiz. Class will be divided into 4 or 5 groups then the quiz will be conducted based on the given topic. Quiz may be prepared by the Librarian/ student through quizzes app, print form, or verbal.

Documentation and Research attitude will be develop

 

Topics will be given to the students on the particular theme according to their class. Students can collect articles from different documents and paste them in the scrapbook

Collect New Words

 

 

1. Vocabulary enhance

2. Handwriting will improve

 

Have each student keep a notebook of new words. This is a nice activity to do daily or a few times a week. It is also good for handwriting practice. Each day, each student finds a word in the dictionary that he does not know. He then writes the word, the definition, and an original sentence using the word in his notebook. An illustration would make a nice addition. Have students share their words with at least one other person.

News and Views

 

The student will be able to improve their Analytical thinking and develop their own views on the topic.

 

Students will allot a topic from Current affairs. They will read this topic from newspapers, magazines, etc. and analyze this topic from different part of views. Then present it in Library period.

August

Know your India

 

Children will be able to know about India like the Capital of States, Indian Rivers, Mountains, Different Languages and Dances, Crops, etc. Research attitudes will be developed.

 

Students will ask to gather information about all the states from books, encyclopedia, internet, atlas, etc and the student will write this information in his/her notebook.

Festivals of different countries

 

Sense of Integration will be developed and special & essential

quality will develop to live in different societies

 

An assignment will be given to the students in which they will search and collect the details about different

Festivals of India and abroad. Festivals like- Holi, Deepawali, Pongal, Losar,

Mahashivratri, Estar, Rath Yatra, Eid-ul- Fitr, Raksha Bandhan, Jnamasthmi, Nowruz, Muharram, Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam, Durga Puja, Navratri, Dussehra, Gurupurab, Hornbill Festival, Semana Santa- Guatemala, Songkran Festival-Thailand, Obon Festival-Japan, Tsechus Festival Bhutan, Perahera Festival- Srilanka

Students come to know about their Career Options

 

Students will ask to make the posters of the career options of a particular stream after 12th. Like- Career in Medical, Non- Medical, NDA, Integrated B Ed, Integrated LLB, Railway, Other Forces, Other Govt Jobs

Book Talk

 

Thinking and confidence will improve

 

The book talk will be organized in the Library period in which the students will discuss the book read by them. They will talk about the title, kind of book, author, brief outline of the story, and different views of the story

Student will be able to use Open Educational Resources

 

A PPT will be shown to the students regarding OER. Students come to know about these e-resources which are freely available on the internet.

Building the story Pyramid

 

Step by step development of making a story.

 

Small pictorial books will be given to the students after reading that they will make a pyramid of the story charts with the main character at the top then add a word to each line below it.

Each of the students is given a book, like a small mostly pictorial in nature along with some text. The student reads it and later is given a worksheet to describe the book in the form of a pyramid.

Book Review

Writing skills and book analysis skills will be developed.

 

Book review format will be given to the students by the Librarian and will ask to write a review of a book that the student has read. The Book review format should contain the information like - Author of the book, Publisher of the Book, Price, ISBN, About the book in minimum 15 lines and moral of the book in maximum 4 lines, etc.

Book jacket Designing

 

Creativity, Art skills, and belongingness towards Books will be developed

 

Children can make a book cover of their book or Library book. Related material will be provided by the Librarian.

January

Best Reader Award / Best Class Library Award

 

Students will be motivated to use the library properly.

 

Librarians will maintain the record of the utilization of the library by the students with the help of e-granthalaya software. This award should be given to the students who qualitatively read and utilized books and libraries regularly.

VI to XII

February

Future Writer

 

Writing skills, Literary skills, and Creative skills will be developed

 

Theme or events/topics as per the age group will be given to the students on which they can write their idea. A lecture may be arranged on writing skills. The writer may be invited in this regard. Many children magazines like Champak, Nandan, Bal Hans, Twinkle, Magic Pot, etc invite the poem, story, riddles etc form the Children. Students will be motivated to write for these periodicals.
